Steel Rain X is an absolute blast! I've always been wary of SHMUPs it just seemed incredibly unwelcoming and unforgiving genre. Steel Rain X allows for easy access for anyone, then lets everyone ramp up the difficulty at their own pace! The randomly generated quests can keep everybody on their toes. And, the empire building/strategy portion is just "icing on the cake!" The achievements. are wonderfully set and will feel absolutely earned!
This game is a blast! I easily got my money out of it! It's classic shoot em up with some new elements like multiple fire modes, bullet spread patterns, upgrades within said patterns to have even more firepower to unleash, upgrades to your wings, bombs, fire modes, armor, missles, multiple wing types, skills and upgrades for those plus a research tech tree and you can even colonialize the planets you liberate! I didnt expect to enjoy it quite as much as I did.
